St George Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church
Leeds
"Let us arise and go to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone." Genesis 35:3
We are a congregation of Indian expatriates from the state of Kerala. Most of us live in and around Leeds and gather twice a month at St. James's Hospital Chapel on the second and fourth Sundays to celebrate the Holy Mass in the Syriac Orthodox tradition.
The Holy Mass is celebrated in Malayalam, the native language of Kerala. We also run Sunday School classes after the service as part of our mission to help our children grow spiritually and stay connected to their heritage.
Our parish is built on devotion, unity, and the living faith of all its members. The St. George Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Leeds, stands as a testimony to the dedication of many families who left India in search of opportunities, yet remained rooted in the Syriac Orthodox faith.
Our parish functions under the spiritual leadership of His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch & All the East, and H.G. Issac Mor Osthatheos, Metropolitan of the United Kingdom. You are warmly invited to worship with us and grow together in Christ.
